Bought this for professional use within a leading UK Company as we needed to travel with particular banks of info in a secure state. This external hard drive is easy to setup and with world wide plugs. Could not be better. -- Great value.

I agree with other reviewers that a drive of this capacity would benefit from a faster means of data transfer than USB 2.0. However, since most computers don't yet have USB 3.0, that won't be an issue in the short term. Bear in mind that it may take about 18 hours to copy 2TB of data via USB 2.0.

I'd also agree that the drive is a little noisier than some, but it seems reliable so far, and it is the cheapest 2TB drive currently offered by Amazon. A stand is provided to mount the drive vertically, which takes up less desk space and may aid cooling. The drive did not get unduly warm after running continuously for 9 hours and while I copied across over about 1TB of data.

I'm using it as a Time Machine drive on a Mac, and formatted it Mac OS Extended (Journalled). Please note! You have to change the format options to GUID in Disk Utility for any drive or partition over 640MB, or you'll get an error message.

Overall - good value and a decent enough drive for anyone needing this amount of storage in one place. -- Hitachi 2TB drive - competent and good value

I bought this yesterday from amazon, came today. Its the cheapest external hard drive I could find for 2TB's of space. And its amazing, its fairly small for a 2TB external hard drive, and comes with a great backup utility. I now never have to worry about space again, I'm going to backup my two computeres onto this one drive, using the backup utility, then upgrade to windows 7 64bit on both my computers. I would highly advise this, definitley worth paying more for a 2TB external hard drive, rather than a smaller one. -- Just what I wanted, amazing.
